New Friends

Last week Maya met her new friend, Leroy, who is 9 weeks old. Maya and Leroy did their ante-natal classes together (in utero). Leroy's parents Michelle and Booker, and Noah and I, attended Jillian's natural birth classes earlier this year. Finally, the two bubs got to meet, and as you can see, they were thrilled and had lots to say to one another! (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) It's exhausting being newborns...

Maya was one month old yesterday. In the last two days she has suddenly become quite alert, and is looking at people in new ways - as though she is noticing they actually exist. Lots of staring, and even a few smiles. Maya and I started a baby massage course yesterday, which will run each Friday for 5 weeks. A woman in the Nimbin area needs 5 'guinea pigs' (babies) to practice on for her infant massage certificate. A nice excuse to get out of the house, network with some other new mothers and babes, and learn some relaxation techniques (not just for Maya, either). I am also hoping that the massage might help with Maya's new early evening crying bouts, which usually last around 2 hours, and which started about a week ago. She obviously needs to let some tension out, I think!

Hello - great to see the gorgeous photos. It's amazing how quickly babies develop in those early months. The 6 o'clock blues is one of those things I remember, and all these 'hiccups' seem to be a normal part of the process. I know I was pretty hard on myself and was sure I was doing something wrong a lot of the time...
Love from Marcelle and I'll give you a call soon. xxxxxxxxxxx
