Family Photo

Noah, Maya and I recently made a trip to Dorrigo, Port Macquarie and South West Rocks (I had a meeting in Dorrigo and Noah had some work in the other two areas). This photo was taken by a kind stranger as we were walking up to the lighthouse at South West Rocks - a spectacular area in Hat Head National Park. You can rent the old lighthouse keepers' cottages as a bed and breakfast (we didn't stay there but intend to go back for sure). Maya had her 4 months birthday on the 19th September, while we were away. Again, she was good to travel with and was a hit with people everywhere we went: it's amazing the connection that a baby gives you with the rest of the world!

Jolly Jumper

Now that her head support is good, Maya's new favourite activity is the 'jolly jumper' (thanks Melissa!). We hang it over a doorframe, and she is free to bounce around, using her feet to push off of the floor- I think she looks kind of like a puppet on a string.

The developmental stages are fascinating to watch (well at least to this first time mother!). Maya is now turning her head to follow movements and voices, smiling and laughing when we do funny faces at her, cooing lots, and grabbing toys and bringing them to her mouth. She even notices her dog, Bindi, now - today Maya's eyes were floowing the dog as we went for our afternoon walk.
