Sad News...

My stepfather, Roberto Soltero, passed away in Seattle, last Saturday, May 26th (US time). He was 53 years old. As many of you will know, Beto has been sick with liver disease for some time now, and was unfortunately deemed too ill to have his liver transplant. He held in so long for that transplant, after the powers-that-be told him a year ago that he would have to wait a year for his US residency and to qualify for medical insurance. My mother - Beto's wife of almost 30 years - has been amazing in caring for him, and this is a very sad time for her, and for all of us that knew and loved him. Beto died peacefully at home, in his own bed, with my mom, my sister Tammy and my uncle Jonathan holding his hands. As Mom says, his soul has flown home, and to a much more peaceful place.

I am just so thankful that Noah, Maya and I got to spend time with Beto when we were there just 4 weeks ago. He was so sick then, but managed to smile whenever he saw the baby. Here is one of Beto's last photos - with his grand-daughter Maya. We love you, Beto.

Thank you Erica for the beautiful and loving posting about Roberto. It meant a lot to me, and he would have loved it.
