Back to Work for Mum...

I've realised that it has been a month since I last posted! Many things have happened during that time. All 4 of Maya's middle molars did push their way through since the last blog - and boy was it a hard one for all of us. She started waking up every 1-2 hours at night screaming, crying during the day, fever, etc. I had no idea that was coming. At it didn't help that I decided to night wean Maya around the same time, as I couldn't handle the night feeding any more. The good news is, the night weaning 'programme' work, thanks to an American website I found by a Dr Jay Gordon - who is one of the few in the medical establishment that actually condones co-sleeping (baby sleeping with parents) AND had a method for how to night wean babies without having to put them in another room (not an option for us!), put them in a cot, or drug them (just kidding). Won't go into the details, but it WORKED! She sleeps pretty much from 8pm through to 3 or 4am, when I give in and feed her. Sometimes she wakes briefly around 11 or 12pm, but she fusses briefly and goes back to sleep. Until the next teeth come in, I suppose....The other news is I have gone back to work at the university, 4 days a week. Dad is taking care of Maya 3 days a week at home, and they are having a good time together. Mum is enjoying her time 'away', back at the office. On the other days, I am letting Noah write his PhD, and I take Maya out to baby group etc. And the house-building still seems to fit in around this arrangment, though it is very bit by bit.

Erica, those are such beautiful photos. Great to hear she is now walking, too. Had a look at your penultimate blog and again am amazed at the lovely lines of your house and how wonderful it's looking. I am sure you are dying to get moved in!
I love the little knitte cap Maya is wearing in the high chair photo, but my fave is the third one where she is sitting in the chair with one leg dangling. So grown up, my little darling. Love, Ma

Hi Sis - Love the pics of Majong. Her little face is SO presha in the 'crumb eating' shot. Rashaan stood in front of the computer, and actually 'cooed' to Maya, as if she were here. We both did, actually. LOL! :) We need some live action video of Maya walking. Always impatient...... Lub! PS - What was mom referring to regarding the 'penultimate blog'? Maybe that was a prior blog. I have NO idea what that means, but I'll have to look it up....

You know, I think having your baby with you at night is a wonderful, warm and great-type bonding thing for your baby. I was told differently when you and Tam were babies ( you will roll over and smother them, etc! )but I love tht you have done it and i know Maya will carry that snug loving warmth with her forever. But, one does ahve to get one's sleep. Eventually.
Love, Ma
